A Note From Simone
As Founder/CEO of Don’t Get Mad Get Paid, I am excited to build and grow this company. Every day I get up with the most exciting job ever – and that is to build a company that has such a profound impact on the people that we touch. For more than 20 years I was a private consultant working with women on one-off contracts navigating them through their complicated process of child support recovery. Today, I am leading a team.
It is an exciting process to find and hire people who share your mission and who are just as excited to join your team as you are to have them be a part of it. My team helps me to drive the mission and the values of the company and we incorporate them into everything that we do. We walk our talk.
If you are wondering who this team is that I have brought together turning a “me” into a “we” and an “I” into an “our”, I thought it would be great to pull the curtain back a bit and have you to meet the team of people who make up Don’t Get Mad Get Paid through our Center Stage blog series.
Each week we will feature a different team member by having them answer a set of questions so that you can get a better sense of who we are as a high-growth tech company. After all, one of our favorite company values is transparency.
To kick off the series we are featuring Anne Tolmie.
What’s your role at Don’t Get Mad Get Paid?
My role is Head of Operations at Don’t Get Mad Get Paid. My day to day consists of many tasks and each day is a little different. What I love about operations is that I get to touch all aspects of the company and collaborate with the entire team. Additionally, working for a startup allows me to wear many hats and dabble into other roles too, which I find tremendously engaging.
What attracted you to the company Don’t Get Mad Get Paid?
Besides it being an impact company, what attracted me to working at Don’t Get Mad Get Paid was honestly Simone, the CEO, and Founder. She has an impressive background of 25 years of experience in the back child support collection space and her passion for the work she is doing is contagious. After a few Google searches and meeting her during my interview, I knew I wanted to be her right-hand woman and assist her as she leads the charge on helping women collect back child support.
What impact do you have that you are most excited about?
We are in our early days here at Don’t Get Mad Get Paid, which means the sky is the limit. What I am super excited about is growing the organizational culture here. Currently, I am working on papering many of our processes, creating documentation, and an employee handbook. It helps to have a CEO/Founder that has such a strong vision for her company. A large part of my job is to ensure her vision and values are nurtured and remained rooted in everything we do. This will remain essential, especially as we grow.
What makes you most excited to be apart of the team right now?
There are so many things to be excited about right now. That is the beauty of working at a startup, right? If I had to choose one at the present moment, I am most excited about our team starting The Duke Law Tech Lab. It is an invaluable experience to be able to collaborate with other legal tech startups as well as have guidance from the professionals in the legal services ecosystem. We meet virtually once a week. Each week allows us to meet new connections in the legal tech space and discuss relevant topics. It has been a great experience so far.
If you could instantaneously pick up a new skill, what would you choose and why?
